Vintage and Rare Underwood Universal Manual Typewriter 1939-Portable

Description

This is proof of early showmanship and technology! This model was available from 1939 - 1950 only. It has no tab key because that was not yet invented. It is a 4 bank style, meaning 4 rows. There is a "backspacer" key.

This typewriter is complete with a case, in which the typewriter is actually locked in to. All keys work as does the carriage return and space bar. It is in fantastic condition in addition to the case.

Underwood produced what is considered the first widely successful, modern typewriter. By 1939, Underwood had produced five million machines.

There is lots of history behind Underwood and were considered a leader in office machines.

This is an antique that will be a real conversation piece!
