A Royal Affair

Description

What would a Snow Queen wear? Something sparkling like ice? Something shiny like gold? Something elegant yet feminine? I decided I wanted to incorporate all of these ideas into one piece for my entry into the Etsy Beadweavers December “Snow Queen” Challenge.

I used hundreds of the tiniest size 15 rocaille seed beads throughout this 18" necklace. I combined transparent silver lined silver rocailles with transparent silver lined light gold rocailles. The spiral rope chain also uses 3mm Czech glass faceted beads. The beaded toggle clasp uses the same beads.

There are a variety of beadweaving stitches used in this design: peyote, brick, spiral, and netting. Each tiny bead is added one at a time using needle and thread. The hours put into this piece are mind-boggling, but the joy in making it a thousand times more.
