Marsh Grass, Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island

The grass that grows near the water is nothing like the grass in your front yard. These shoots are as thin as wire, and just about as stiff. Some shoots grow straight up, and some are pushed over in clumps by weather or their own weight, making the marsh look like it has a real bad haircut. You can't see them in this shot, but many little bugs live under the grass and close to the muck. And if you want to take a picture like this yourself, wear old clothes and plan to put them right in the wash when you get home.

Printed on "metallic" paper. An 8" by 10" print fits in an 11" by 14" frame. Please indicate whether you prefer the proportions in the photo above, for your custom-cut matte, or a print that will fit in a standard 7 1/2" by 9 1/2" opening.
