Hand Painted Vintage Leather Handbag - Beige Peacock Saddlebag

Description

This roomy beige leather handbag has been customized with a lovely hand painted peacock motif. Since creating the motif in 2006, and it has now become a trademark of my work. In fact, I've been using my own blue and green version for the last few years and I still get compliments on it!

The original motif is inspired by peacock feathers and combines four colours. It's the most labour intensive design that I do, but the end result is so rewarding that getting to the final layer is akin to the last stretch of a 10k run!

REVIVAL (About the Design Process)

Every vintage handbag is customized individually with its own original hand painted motif. I first sketch up multiple ideas in colour, and once I have the final design, I start hand painting my layers. I usually work on a small part of the handbag or purse over several days. Sometimes a single bag has up to 8 layers of paint on it!

My goal is to create designs that complement and enhance the handbag’s original style. It’s all about reviving the bag so that there's a dialogue between past and present.
