Description

This book was born of a love and respect for the book. There is inherrently something mysterious, enchanting, and intoxicating about dusting off a great tome and opening it to reveal letters and pictures that jump off the page to recreate a moment in time. This book was made to show an individual a moment in time in a forest. There are no animals or such so that the viewer is free to concentrate on the swirling growth patterns. I freehanded the cut patterns with an exacto knife and coptic bound the Arches Coverstock pages to two pieces of wood. The wood was previously carved with a medallion indicating a forest scene and then inked up and allowed to dry. There is a ring of Masa paper around the medallion and a layer of Tung oil over the whole of the covers to bring out the shine in the grain. Pieces of Rives Tan Heavyweight BFK protect the pages of this one of a kind piece.
