Silver and Amazonite Prayer Beads

Description

These prayer beads are made from stunning Black Gold Amazonite rondelles separated by small silver beads. The beads are strung in the numbers usually associated with the Buddhist mala. A traditional mala consists of 108 beads, with "wrist malas" containing 27 beads.

The prayer beads that I make use 27 beads in three sections--two sections containing 6 beads and the larger section containing 15. I like that symmetry, and it makes a nice size to hold in the hand. The three sections are separated with hollow Ethiopian metal prayer beads.

Prayer beads have a long, ancient tradition, and are meant to focus the mind, to help foster a prayerful attitude, to help one pray with intention. The origin of the word "bead" is an Old English word, "bede," which means "prayer."

The pendant part of this prayer bead set is made of Amazonite, Tree Agate, Sunset Jasper and Bali silver, a copper/silver alloy fish, and an "evil eye" protection bead, and is terminated with a Bali silver seashell.

The beads will come in an organza pouch, and will be wrapped in tissue and mailed in a padded mailer.
