Square Bottle

Description

This new bottle form displays flowers beautifully, although I consider it a decorative form in itself.

As with all of my pottery, the beautifully varied surface decoration is the direct result of the firing process. The flame of the wood burning kiln encircles the pottery leaving behind traces, depositing ash, and flashing the surface of each piece in a distinct manner. Additional variation on the surface comes from the soda vapors swirling through the kiln in the final hours. The result is pottery which presents a record of the firing process, with warm earth tones and variation from side to side.Wheel thrown and altered stoneware, wood and soda fired to cone 10.

Dimensions: 8.5" height, 3" width.
Colors include gray, gold, and peach.
