Small Square Bowl

Description

These bowls are softly squared while on the wheel. They are accentuated by a thick rim and an intentional ridge, all formed an the wheel. Exterior colors include gray, white, red, orange, tan, gold, cream. Interior is glazed with a light blue celadon glaze, food safe.

As with all of my pottery, the surface decoration is the direct result of the firing process. The flame of the wood burning kiln encircles the pottery leaving behind traces, depositing ash, and flashing the surface of each piece in a distinct manner. Additional variation on the surface comes from the soda vapors swirling through the kiln in the final hours. The result is pottery which presents a record of the firing process, with warm earth tones and variation from side to side.

This is a great bowl for any small serving of food!

Wheel thrown and altered stoneware, wood and soda fired to cone 10. Dimensions: 3.5" height, 4.5" width.
