Each Sugar Fire Jewellery piece is made by sifting layers of powdered glass onto a pure copper piece and then firing it in a kiln at 1500°F. The glass goes through various stages of melting, each one named for its texture. The first stage of melting, after only a moment in the kiln, is called “Sugar Fire” because the powder is just starting to fuse to the copper and it resembles sparkling sugar-like granules. This is where the fun begins!
