Fairy Chrysalis Beaded Necklace -- Rainforest

Description

A fairy chrysalis is a cocoon that will some day hatch a fairy. The Fairy Chrysalis pendants are my vision of what such a cocoon might look like. They all contain a large semiprecious core bead, which is encrusted with a layer of gemstones and seed beads, created with free form bead weaving. Each one is totally unique; I couldn't repeat it if I tried. I imagine that the Rainforest Fairy born from this pendant would spend her time skipping on rocks deep in the rain forest. She collects leaves and lichen, and knows how to hunt for edible mushrooms.

This Fairy Chrysalis pendant contains a beautiful rainforest jasper for its core; one of the nicest pieces I've seen. It's super shiny but has lots of visual texture, even with transparent bits so you can see inside the stone. The outside is encrusted with a variety of gemstone beads including a whole bunch of rich orange and yellow sapphires, green and orange tourmaline, an a bright orange flash labradorite. The seed beads are a mixture of greens, brown and bronze. It has a very earthy, organic quality to it.

A bail for stringing is woven right into the Fairy Chrysalis, and I strung it on a thin hand-woven strip of seed beads that match the pendant. A second, shorter strand of larger beads is attached. These include 3 hand made borosilicate glass beads, 4 large tourmaline faceted roundels (absolutely stunning!), and natural goldstone.

This is one of my very favorite pieces I have made because I love the colors and it all harmonizes perfectly. In fact, this is the first time I've put it up for sale. I hope it goes to a good home because I will miss it when it's gone.

The clasp is a sterling silver toggle.

The shorter strand of the necklace is 18 inches long. The pendant is 72mm tall, 15mm wide, and 14mm thick.
