Hamster Pendant Miniature Scrimshaw Art on Tagua Nut Ivory
Description
Cuteness preserved...A hamster is portrayed in portrait style in this original scrimshaw design on an ivory tagua nut. Tagua nut is also known as vegetable ivory, and has similar properties to genuine ivory, but without the legalities attached, as it is a natural substance grown on trees, and is not from an animal. :)
The nut is framed in hand-sculpted silver solder with a silver plated bail. The scrimshaw design was created using a stippling (tiny dots) technique along with line etching with a needle, and then color was added. The piece is signed by the artist.
Pendant measures 2 1/2" x 1 1/2"
