A Shift of Time

Description

I took this photo when a friend was walking in front of some christmas lights in the dark. I panned my camera to follow him while the shutter was still open, and it has been one of my favorite photos ever since. It reminds me of the futurist paintings and sculptures such as Giacomo Balla's painting of a Dog or Umberto Boccioni's sculpture of a figure moving through time. The edges of the image i left rough to add to the sense of motion in the piece.
