Description

A sculpturally expressive take on a traditional functional form. This surface is achieved only through long firing of a wood kiln. The colors are determined by the chemistry of a clay that I dig, and the chemistry of the wood that burn as fuel. During the 6-10 day firing process ashes are carried from the firebox through the settings of work and to the chimney on the flame's path. These ashes accumulate on the molten surface of a piece and create a natural glaze of their own on bare clay.
