Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, tricolor, painted on a clam

Description

Cavaliers always have a stern look on their face because of those prominent eyebrows, they are one of the happiest breeds I have met. Their tail wags non-stop. Those beautiful silky ears make them look so formal.

The Cavalier portrait is painted on a soft shell clam. As the name implies, the shell is very thin and delicate. The back has three coats of varnish to give it a bit more strength (although it won't necessarily save the shell if it takes a fall, so be careful!). The shell is perfectly white and has nearly perfect edges and a smooth surface.

Size: small-medium, 9.4 x 5.6 cm

Each shell is a unique work of art. I find the shells myself, on a local beach and paint canine portraits using acrylic paints. They make a great gift or keepsake!
