The weather is too forbidding to do raku these days so I've fired this laughing Buddha in white stoneware.We've typically seen him as the quintessential figurine in the Chinese restaurants right next to the fish aquarium. Seriously overweight, irrevocably happy, big money sack slung over his shoulder, sometimes with children spilling out of his bag, he is a popular symbol of good luck and plenitude.
Here is my more modern and unique version of this inspiring character of ease and good cheer. A spectacular glaze serves as his robe.
