What is Gold-Filled?

Gold-filled is a process by which a thick layer of 14 karat gold is applied around another metal. The 14 karat gold layer is approximately 50 to 100 times thicker than a p-l-a-t-e-d item. It is much more valuable than p-l-a-t-e-d items because of the amount of gold and resistance to mars and scratches. Also referred to as "rolled gold", gold-filled is especially hard wearing and under normal wear conditions should last a lifetime.

What is Gold Vermeil?

Pronounced "ver-may", vermeil describes a coating of gold on solid sterling silver. The thickness of this coating is 5 times that of a p-l-a-t-e-d item. Also called "gilded silver", vermeil looks the same as solid karat gold but it has a second precious metal underneath. It's a bit of extra luxury for the wearer to enjoy.

What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling silver is a white and highly reflective precious metal. "Sterling" refers to silver that is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, most commonly copper. Sterling silver is alloyed with copper to give strength while preserving the ductility of the silver and maintaining a high precious metal content. Unlike p-l-a-t-e-d items, solid sterling silver jewlery is immune to the nicks and scrapes that flake off silver p-l-a-t-i-n-g.

About the Gemstones

Each stone is a natural and hand cut creation. Some stones may be treated with a polish or tint to bring out their natural luster and color. Each gemstone is individually cut into a faceted briolette shape and may range in size from approx 6mm to 9mm in height and width.
