Primitive Valentine Heart with Dove Make-Do

Description

Use this primitive heart make-do to add a touch of romance to your primitive or Victorian home decor for Valentine's Day or everyday. This piece is 22" tall, and was created using a Veena's Mercantile pattern. It includes a stuffed muslin heart that has been painted a dark red, sanded, coffee stained, and then rubbed with cinnamon to give it an aged look. A stuffed muslin dove flies above the heart, attached with sturdy rusty wire. The dove has been painted vintage white, sanded, and stained.

The heart is wrapped cheesecloth that I stained and painted a rose color. The cheesecloth forms a pocket that I have filled with stained vintage and Valentine images plus a sprig of sweet annie. The cheesecloth is secured by a rusty safety pin and some stained vintage lace ric-rac tied in a bow. The heart is secured onto a vintage wooden bobbin base.
