Primitive Folk Art Doll - Sweet Annie Love Letters

"Sweet Annie Love Letters" is a primitive doll made of muslin that has been painted, sanded and coffee stained to give her a primitive, time-worn look. She wears a calico skirt that has been grunged with coffee stain. Her top is painted on, and adorned with a stained cheesecloth collar and two rusty bells for buttons.

Sweet Annie carries a bag made of stained muslin covered in stained cheesecloth that is filled with a few springs of sweet annie. Her bag has a stuffed muslin heart sewn onto it (the heart was painted dark red, sanded and then coffee stained). A stained piece of paper with script that reads "Love Letters" printed on it is pinned to the bag with a rusty safety pin. The bag's strap is made of a stained strip of cheesecloth.

"Sweet Annie Love Letters" is 19" tall, and was created using a Kim Kohler design. She has a needle-sculpted nose and eyebrows. I sewed her mouth out of red thread, and sewed her eyes using white and black thread. Her hair is made of wool that has been grungied with a sprinkling of cinnamon and nutmeg. She has a loop for hanging behind her shoulders, or you can display her sitting if you prefer.
