Fading Glory. Original soft pastel painting 8 1/2" by 11 1/2" (21.5 by 29.5 cm.). Unmatted, unframed. Signed by artist (Lynn) in lower right corner.

Our summer mornings are enhanced greatly by the new blooms on the morning glory vines John plants for us on the deck each year. He also plants them along the fence, and massed like that, all one can do is look and say "ahhh."
There is something so poignant about their short, vibrant existence, and in waning in the heat of the sun, this one curls back into an even more wistful beauty.

All my (Lynn’s) pastels are sold unframed and without mat. I prefer the velvet peachy texture and unaltered colours of unfixed pastel paintings. My pastel paintings are partly mechanically ‘fixed’ by the finger pressure I use to blend the soft pigments, without need for the texture & tone-altering application of a spray fixative. When I am framing my pastels for display, I do so matted, under glass without fixative spray.

The purchaser can make their own decision of whether to fix the image prior to framing in discussion with their framer. The size of the paper is approximately 1/4" wider on all sides. All pastels are signed and dated by me in the lower right corner leaving a ¼” allowance for the mat. I use Strathmore or Canson pastel paper and pro quality soft pastels.

The shipping quote is for airmail. Pastel paintings will be shipped in a snugly-fitting Crystal clear bag firmly sandwiched between two pieces of taped-together foam core, all within a sandwich of clean, recycled cardboard exterior. The foam core provides support and protection from damage during shipping, and also eliminates movement of the image against the crystal clear bag surface. Buyers can expect to find some imprinting of the pastel image against the bag when the painting is removed, but this will be minimal and will not perceptibly alter the painting.

I was first intrigued by pastels early in 2007 when a fellow watercolourist started to get stunning results with this medium. Now soft pastels are my preferred painting medium---I love working directly with the pure pigment in mixing shades with my fingers. I love the direct, tactile involvement in creating textures and tones. It’s the closest painting has ever comes to sculpting for me in terms of the tactile + visual satisfaction.
