This piece of handmade pottery is an original design based upon a rather industrial piece of kitchenware first created in Europe. It's a perfect gift for the person who loves to cook.

Fill this container with salt (or any favorite, often-used herb or spice) and set it near your stove or cooking prep area so you have it handy. Reach into the opening for a pinch of salt whenever you need it.

I made this on my pottery wheel as a closed-form, egg-shaped item into which I cut a 3.25" hole -- the perfect size to allow room for your fingers to reach in. This container stands 5" tall x 4" across.

I glazed it inside in a translucent blue which complements the bright red of the exterior.

I signed it on the bottom rim.
