Ava

Description

Pearls pearls pearls! I had all these fabulous, multi-colored freshwater pearls and just didn't know what to do with them. I had them sorted out by color into their own consecutive piles, each waiting for their own prim project.

And then I accidentally mixed them together and my purpose became clear. I had to make Ava, an extra-long, multi-colored pearl necklace strung on sturdy, stainless steel wire. Shades of electric blue mix with spiced peach, creme fraiche, stormy silver gray, burgundy, tawny sauvernes gold, sunny yellow, rose pink, lavender, peacock and bronze. This is NOT your grandmother's pearl necklace, nor is it meant for the bashful.

Imagine a cabaret in Paris or Berlin. You're decked out in your black flapper dress, your bobbed hair and your feathered headband. You have a long slinky cigarette holder in one hand. The fingers of the other hand are wrapped around a single, long strand of pearls dangling from your neck as you listen to not-famous-yet-singers belting out the newest jazz trend to hit Europe. Perhaps you make eyes at some tuxedoed gentleman across the room, or signal your waiter for another drink. No matter what, you can't help but attract the attention of the room even though you're not the one performing. It just comes naturally.
