This necklace is my entry in the January/February Etsy Beadweavers' Team Challenge.

The theme for this challenge was Tropical Holiday. My favorite tropical holiday place is South Florida, where I can visit my mom and walk on the beach. I love to gather shells. When I found this bead mix at a BeadFest, it reminded me of the sand and the purplish shells I find at Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge. So I dug out one of my vintage mother of pearl buttons and added little "rocks and sticks," represented by the darker beads and the bugle beads. There are also teeny, tiny Japanese glass pearls in size 15 around the bezel.

The pendant is approximately 1.5 inches (3.8 cm). The spriral rope is approximately 22 inches (55.8 cm), including a 3-inch (7.6 cm) sterling silver extender chain, so you can wear it with a turtleneck sweather while you are dreaming of the beach.

The backing is suede. The peyote stich bezel and spiral rope are stitched with Fireline.

At the end of the extender chain is a sterling silver peace bead with the word "peace" on one side and a peace symbol on the other. The clasp is a sterling silver heart lobster claw, so it's ready to be a Valentine's Day gift.

The necklace will be shipped by priority mail in my embossed gift box with a dragonfly gift tag, carefully packaged in a sturdy shipping box and insured.
