Etched Copper Earrings - Stars and Spirals Pattern

Description

These slightly domed copper discs have raised stars and spirals. I used a chemical etching process to embed the design. I antiqued the earrings, buffed them to reveal the highlights, then tumbled them to a shine. I treated the copper with two coats of microcrystalline wax to prevent any discoloration.

The copper is lightweight but sturdy. The sterling silver ear wires are my own creations. The ear wires' ends are filed and sanded to a super-smooth finish.

The earrings are 1 and 3/8 inches (3.5 cm) long from the top of the ear wires. The copper discs are 3/4 inch (a hair under 2 cm) wide.

I mail them in a tarnish-resistant ziplock bag and gift box inside a bubble-padded envelope.
