petal bowl

Description

Here's a form and a design that I return to time & again. I'm fond of making small bowls; little vessels to hold something or nothing...

This piece was made using a combination of sheet glass and torchworked glass petals & dots. These components were assembled and fired in a kiln a few times - lastly in a mold to impart a gentle curve. The piece has a rounded base, but still sits nicely. One noteworthy detail is the silvery metallic sheen on the interior of the bowl - it comes from using iridized glass - which in this case, has a semi-matte, almost pearly appearance. The result is a great little dish. It's subtle & sweet.

Dimensions: 4.5" diameter & 1.25" tall.

not signed - this piece is a prototype of sorts probably from 2006. I've continued working with this general design & form, but not quite in the same way. There are a few tiny dark flecks that relate to the vanilla layer of the bowl, but they didn't show up in the photos. That said, this is still a very nice piece.
