Scoopt - Box Elder Display Bowl

I'm really into Art Nouveau and Arts and Craft. But I do like to chase other ideas as the muse tickles me. This is a modernistic piece that just seemed to flow out of the material. Truly handmade by me. I cut down the tree, cut out the blank and seasoned it for over a year. the rest is seredipity. Completely shaped by hand and eye (with minor help from cardboard templates).

It is 16 inches long, 8 1/4 inches wide and stands 3 inches from the table. The bowl shape measures 8 3/4 inches long by 7 1/4 wide and is 1 1/2 inches deep. Just perfect for what you want to show off on your dinning room table (lemons for example if you are Vern Yip). Or leave it on the hall table to collect keys and mail.

Thoroughly sealed with polyurethane varnish, waxed and buffed. I have been through four photo sessions with this one and I have yet to capture the subtle color and grain of this piece. I'll keep trying, but until then, here it is.
