Long Twisted Pearls and Bronze Necklace

Description

This is one of the first BronzClay pieces I made in a class with my fabulous mentor, Nancy Johnson, at the Shepherdess in Old Town. It was an experiment of sorts. You have to have the clay in the kiln for a crazy 9 hours and when I put this piece in, the cubic zirconia was brown and when it came out, it was lavender! Kooky, but I wasn't unhappy with it because it went just as well with these great peacock and brown freshwater pearls and the Charolette seed beads that I used in this necklace.

The back of this pendant has a really cool pattern that I took from my favorite vintage wallpaper. It looks like the sand after a wave washes back out to sea. I think you can flip this necklace around and wear it either way!

Length: 33 inches, which is a bit too short to double up.

Bronze Care:
Do not clean your bronze in a home ultrasonic cleaner! Use a soft cloth only! The great thing about BRONZclay is the unique patina each piece comes out of the kiln with. Cleaners and rubbing will take any unique patina off your bronze pieces and may damage any stones or pearls your bronze piece includes. So, the dirtier the better with bronze! Just rub softly with a soft cloth. The more ancient looking, the better!

What is BRONZclay, you might ask?
BRONZclay consists of 11% tin, 89% copper, water and non-toxic binding materials. The binding materials vaporize completely during the kiln-firing process, leaving a solid bronze piece with a density 90% that of cast bronze. BRONZclay is true bronze (although a bit less dense) and is composed of tin and copper, not the brass form that you see in most commercial bronze. (from Rio Grande)
