Dancing baby yatagarasu - original monotype on washi
Description
This monotype is part of my ongoing studio project KarasuYatagarasu. You can read more about this on my blog. The yatagarasu or three-legged crow is a mythological creature in Japanese culture that appears in a number of legends. It devoured a monster that tried to eat the sun. It also guided a priest on his travels through the mountains. Here a baby yatagarasu tries out his freshly moulted wings with a joyful dance. This original hand-painted monotype has been made with Holbein water-based block printing ink and poster paint on handmade washi from the famous paper-making town of Ogawamachi in Saitama Prefecture.
The image measures 19cms x 16cms or 7.5" x 6.5" and has been collaged with artists' grade paper adhesive to a thicker washi backing that measures 31 cms x 25 cms or 12" x 8".
Delivery is by Japan Post registered economy airmail. Expect 7 to 21 days signed and insured delivery WORLDWIDE.
