Lichens Beaded Silk Brooch
Description
A circular brooch made from hand-dyed silk and wool felt. It is quilted with circles, and then stitched with shell and freshwater pearls, crystal and glass beads. The edge is stitched with tiny seed beads in a lacy pattern.This brooch is about 1 1/2 inches, stitched to a small pin back. Wear it on a lapel, like a cameo at the collar of a shirt, or pin it to a ribbon for a unique choker necklace.
I dye the silk in small batches so every piece is unique - this one shades of green and gold. Each bead is handstitched - I sometimes use up to 30 different kinds of beads in each pin or pendant.
