INTO THE FOREST
8" x10" Original Encaustic Painting on masonite

Into the forest we wander, towards the spirit house of dreams..The woods, the trees, the animals all call to us to use our imagination....and we journey into this colorful world.

This textured and three dimensional, detailed and original, one of kind encaustic, mixed media painting, is a call to the world of enchantment.

Magical, deeply textured, and 3 dimensional, it was painted on 8'x10 masonite board. A layer of beeswax was applied to the board...then an undercoat of encaustic paint was applied and fused to the beeswax with a heat gun.

After that more paint, and collage imagery and rice papers were added, with each layer having beeswax overlayed and heat fused. Layer upon layer of paint and beeswax was added to give a textured feel to the piece


This encaustic painting is painted on the sides and doesn't need a frame to be hung, however it will fit into a standard 8"x10 frame.

For those of you who don't know what ENCAUSTIC is...
Encaustic is beeswax-based paint that is kepy molton on a heated palette. It is applied to the surface and reheated to fuse the paint into a uniform enamel-like finish.

Encaustic has a long history, but it is as versatile as any 20th century medium. It can be polished to a high gloss; it can be modeled, sculpted, textured, and combined with collage materials, It cool immediately, so there is no drying time, yet it can always be reworked.
