This one really glows...

I am only making a maximum of 9 pieces (for sale...I will, of course, be making one for myself!) using this thicker Bakelite/Catalin heart shape...Each piece will be a little bit different from the next, so each piece is one of a kind and part of a series...

Vintage (30+ years old...Actually more than 50 in this case) Bakelite/Catalin in bright red (cherry juice/red jello)set in a handformed bezel of sterling silver.... This Bakelite came from uncirculated stock... If you look closely you can still see slight texture (so slight you can't feel it, but you can *just* see it) from the saw on the surface... I sanded this a bit as well... I wanted more of a bold, graphic simplicity.

The inside of the bezel was finished to a high shine, burnished for a slight textural/cross-hatch effect, and then sealed, while the outer portions were blackened and brushed- this really lets the heart glow and pop and forms a delicious contrast between the illuminated red and the dark, sexy silver...

The chain is sterling silver and oxidized to coordinate...While this piece does not have chain that was handmade by me, I love this particular chain and chose it for it's multiple textures, variation in link size, and gorgeous sheen that peeks through the patina... The clasp is sterling silver, lobster style.

The chain portion of the necklace measures 20" in length, I am happy to shorten it to whatever length suits you best (this would be gorgeous at choker length as well)

The heart portion measures 1 3/8" across and almost 1.5" from top of bail to pointed bottom of the heart.

The piece shown in the images is representative of the piece you will receive. Your treasure will be the same size, design, coloring...Please do allow for small, very subtle variations that make each handmade piece using vintage components special...
