Arabian Nights Silk Japanese Kimono Decor Pillow 12 X 12

I use Vintage Silk Kimonos and my own original design, to make my pillows. The Pillows are meant to represent a miniature Kimono. My Kimono collection has kimonos aged from 40 years and up. A friend in Japan who shares my love of Japanese culture gathered them for me. These Kimonos were well loved and worn for special occasions. Due to the age of the fabrics, not all of each Kimono was salvageable, so each pillow is one of a kind, even if it is from the same Kimono.

Everything on the pillow except the Obi cord was recycled. The lining showing at the neck is the actual lining of that Kimono, the Obi belt is a Vintage Obi belt, which was also carefully checked and only the best parts were recycled.

The pillows are stuffed with new fiberfill. Please use a dry cloth to brush off surface dirt or dust. Dry cleaning can destroy metallic painting and embroidery, also the chemicals used may weaken the vintage silk fabric.

My hope in making these pillows is to share my love of beautiful silks and to allow people to have a small piece of Japan in their homes. Not all homes can accommodate a full Kimono hanging on the wall, but nearly all homes can have a Kimono pillow or two to enjoy this beautiful tradition.

You will find that the camera does not do justice to the true depth of color of these fabrics. Once you receive your pillow you will be amazed at some of these colors and will love them even more.

Geometric patterns accented with Red, Yellow, Black, Red, Grey and White. The colors are muted and the effect is very Mid-Eastern. The lining is a vivid Red silk that matches the inside of the cross pattern.

Vintage Obi belt is a heavy Black silk, and I've taken artistic license and have added a stripe of the Kimono fabric to show off the Obi belt.
