This book is fashioned after the Moleskine Cahier Journal. (This is not an embellished moleskine- this baby is completely handmade!) The covers are made from covered heavy kraft paper that is very durable. Inside are 40 blank pages of white sulphite drawing paper, which is medium weight 60 lb paper with a bit of texture. This paper accepts most media well, including ink, pencil and markers. The pages are hand-cut and sewn together using a modified coptic binding method which allows it to open flat. The cover and pages are all hand punched to have rounded corners. The size is slightly different from commercially made moleskines- I have modified it to make it my own.

This design is made with patterned scrapbook paper that has an asian inspired red medallion print on it with grape clusters and leaves. Inside the back cover is a stamp with my shop name and info on it. It makes a great journal or sketchbook and is durable enough to hold up well inside a backpack or purse. (I carry mine everywhere!)

As an art student I was always disappointed about how boring commercial sketchbooks and journals were. They killed creativity rather than inspiring it, and I brought mine to class only to find that it looked like everyone else’s! I’ve always liked the size and shape of moleskine journals, but was turned off by who plain and mass-produced they are. My solution to this problem are these handmade versions so you can own a journal or sketchbook that reflects your own unique style- you’re days of blending in are over!
