Description

This 4x5 image is a Polaroid Transfer Composite printed on Somerset Velvet Fine Art Paper with Epson K3 Inks, signed and matted with white acid-free cotton rag mat.

Process:

After I captured the elements of this composition on film, I made a Polaroid image transfer, by re-exposing the image onto Polaroid peel-apart film, then pressing the negative side onto wet watercolor paper. Thus the print dyes of the negative were “transferred” onto the surface of the paper. The Polaroid transfer process imparts a unique texture and a dreamy, old-world feeling.

I then recombined the transfer with the original image, and further developed the mood and evocative nature of the image through the artful application of digital processes. My profile page has more details of my style and process.

The papers and inks I use allow for intensely saturated yet velvety color with clean highlights and increased detail on a sensuous textured surface. See my PROFILE for links to the research on the outstanding longevity of this paper and ink combination.
