It rises in the back to 2 1/2".
Please measure your laptop with a measuring tape to determine which size is right for your p.c.. Do not rely on the computers screen size.
A 15" powerbook is actually only 13 1/2" wide and fits like a glove on the medium size Laptop Jack.
