Lily of Strength Needlefelted Wool Pin Brooch

Description

This lovely flower is a tiger lily. Tiger lilies always have had a sense of inner strength and beauty to me. They are so delicate looking, yet they can withstand the strong winds of a summer thunderstorm like it didn't happen. Who couldn't use a little inner strength now and then?

This pin is needlefelted from handdyed wool. When I needlefelt, I take a piece of wool and carefully sculpt it with a special barbed needle until the wool has the shape I want. I then take other colors of wool and "paint" those colors onto the base using another special barbed needle. It took me about 3 hours to sculpt the Lily of Strength. After the flower is sculpted, I select beads and wire to make the stamens of the flower. For this flower I chose goldtone wire and vintage French Jet glass beads. As the finishing touch, I secure a metal pinback onto the back of the flower so it can be worn. The finished size of this pin is aprox 3 inches across.

This is a one of a kind flower. I can custom make lilies in other colors, contact me if you have a request. I do not recomend my flower pins for children. They are a little fragile and should not be worn on items that take a lot wear.
