Working Through the Numbers necklace
Description
This is truly a mixed metal piece created with steel wire, brass, copper and found objects. I created a grungy frame from heat patinaed copper, cut, shaped and pounded. For inside the frame, I used a vintage bingo card and brass strips treated with heat patina. I covered my weaving with a layer of mica and added a fat, faceted carnelian drop to the bottom. This carnelian briolette is really gorgeous and is the perfect color to match the copper. I suspended the whole thing from an antique key.I created soldered and textured rings from copper and added a faceted smokey quartz bead and vintage religious medal. The opposite side is linked with beautiful, rough carnelian, another textured copper ring and another faceted smokey quartz bead.
One of my favorite elements in this necklace is the link I made from a vintage mercury glass bead and vintage brass bead caps. Above it is a stack of African recycled glass beads. Fabric and a small copper clasp finish the piece.
Approximately 24 inches
