Indigo Ikat Scarf

Description

A hand dyed, handwoven rayon chenille scarf, with warp patterned ikat.

Ikat is a technique where the yarns for the warp and/or weft are wrapped and bound in a pattern. The bindings will cause a resist, the dye will not penetrate those areas and therefore remain un-dyed. The dyed warp yarns are then threaded onto the loom, carefully preserving the order and alignment of the design.

These yarns were hand dyed in an indigo bath, three dips were needed to reach this beautiful blue color.

Rayon chenille is famous for its soft and cuddly qualities.

This scarf is 7.5“ wide x 59” long with 4” twisted fringe on both ends

This scarf may be dry cleaned or hand washed and air dried.
