A Distant Star System Bead Embroidered Pendant

This piece is a personal favorite of mine and uses colors that I don't often use. I love the contrast of the genuine Agate and Onyx cabochons with the light purpley-rainbow-finished seed beads. The brass and gold accents lend the entire piece a classy, sophisticated feel.

When I was about ten years old, for Christmas, my parents gave me a book titled "The Planets". It contained an essay about each of the nine planets in our solar system and a short story by a well-known science fiction author that was set on or somehow involved that particular planet. It was my first foray into science fiction, and I was hooked. It still inspires me to this day, and still holds all the wonder in thinking about our world, our galaxy and our universe. I tried to express that wonder when creating this pendant.

This is a large pendant - it measures almost 7" from the top of the first cabochon to the bottom of the fringe, and is a real statement piece. It is suspended from a hand-braided beaded chain, strung on 14lb test braided beading thread, so it is very secure. Finished with a lovely gold-plated (and very secure) tab clasp and gold-plated end cones.
