The sale of this necklace is going to help pay for the staggering vet bills of Tucson, AZ adopted greyhounds Opal and Rider who, along with their owner, were the victims of a 5-car hit and run accident. The vet bill was $14,000 and so far $7,000 has been raised. The dogs have recovered and returned to their couch potato status. Owner Elizabeth (Lizzie) Mead is also mending nicely and Believes in people again.

ABOUT THE NECKLACE:

Venetian type glass, Turquoise, Hill Tribe Silver, crystal, metal, plastic and hematite beads. This necklace is just beautiful, all blue and sexy. My husband calls her “Hathor, goddess of sex, drugs and rock and roll!”

The Egyptian goddess Hathor was a protector of music, dancing and love. She personified fertility and motherhood. As such her popularity was unbroken during the whole Egyptian history. She and Horus protected the royal couple and she attended at the arrival of the dead king into the next world. In the Old Kingdom the pharaohs were often shown with Hathor at their side. One of the temples of her cult is still standing at Dendara in Upper Egypt.

The Egyptians began mining Turquoise in the Sinai Peninsula around 5500 BC. In Ancient times the Egyptians, Persians, Mongols and Tibetans all valued Turquoise highly.
