If you love emerald but have issues with emerald's cost or fragility, chrome diopside is a great alternative. It's a natural gemstone (not lab grown or cubic zirconia). Is is softer on the Mohs scale than emerald, which is very hard - but it lacks emerald's extremely brittle nature.
