Hey Black Child - 11x14 Giclee Print/Reproduction
Description
"Hey Black ChildDo you know who you are,
Who you really are?
Do you know you can be
What you want to be
If you try to be
What you can be?"
(from "Hey Black Child" by Useni Eugene Perkins)
A poem remembered from my childhood gives birth to a new poem. They share an echoing refrain and a belief that with love and hard work all is possible.
"Hey, Black Child,
How you gonna do all that?
I’ll tell you – it’s that thing
Emptier than air and older than Africa,
Stronger than concrete and Kingdom Come –
That thing is love, Black Child.
Love can do any thing.
Just ask your momma."
(from "Stronger Than Concrete" by Elizabeth Barrette)
This print measures 11" X 14" and is signed on the reverse.
