Three Wise Stamps Antique Postcard Collage

Description

I went with a bit of a religious theme here in this collage. I put a vintage stamp from Fiji of Mary, Jesus and the wise men in a gilded paper frame and then framed some worshipful looking children from another vintage stamp from Canada (1970). I also added a frame to the Bavarian stamp on the back.

There are many special things about the postcard itself:

1. It is postmarked Baden Baden, May 28th, 1901 making it 108 years old.

2. The stamp is from Bavaria which was still its own separate kingdom at the time.

3. It still has the original greetings written in pencil, though they are in the old script and not really readable for "modern" eyes.

4. The writer also traced over the old woman's eyes in pencil, something you can see when you hold it against the light.

The postcard has a few minor tears on the side but, considering how old it is, it is in remarkable condition. A great addition to someone's collection and also worthy of framing.
