Beebo ACEO, 4/25
Description
ACEO, signed by the artist and numbered. This limited edition art card shows the the wonder and character of one of Earth's most amazing creatures, the banana slug (Ariolimax columbianus). We were returning to the car on the day Dean found the waterfall seen in our shop photograph titled "Good Chi," and as we were crossing the road Dean looked down to find this gastropod working its way across the road. It was about four inches long and classically colored (most banana slugs are actually brown and blend in with the mud).
This close-up view was taken as it recognised that there was a large thing taking notice of it, and it was checking Dean out with its optic tentacles. Beebo seemed like an apt name for the creature.
ACEO means Art Card Editions and Originals. They are miniature works of art that measure 2.5" X 3.5", the same size as a standard playing card. They are a perfect means to collect and trade original art.
Our ACEOs are made using achival pigment inks rated to last 200+ years and are printed on 100% cotton rag, acid free, achival fine art paper. On the back of each card is printed the image title, the artists name, series number (1 of 25 etc...) and is signed by the artist. Each card is packaged in a clear polypropelene sleeve to enhance and preserve the archival qualities of the image.
Art Cards have a very long and interesting history.
Art cards or miniatures where the rage in the 16th Century. They were mostly portraits and they were sold, not traded or given away. They were the first wallet "photos." Men would have nudes painted of their mistresses on art cards (without their wives knowing), usually by the same artist that would do the big family portraits of their wives. Miniature portraits would be used for exchange when rich people arranged marriages. In fact, this caused a big problem for poor Henry the Eighth, when the artist who painted his fourth wife, Anne of Cleves, took a little too much "artistic license." Poor Anne was not up to standard and Henry divorced her.
These cards will enhance your collection of fine art images and make wonderful gifts for family and friends.
