Open wood bowl is a laminated segmented bowl that is assembled and lathe turned to produce the decorative smile design. The item is finished inside and outside with gloss lacquer and is truly a delight to hold. A nice turning for the discriminating collector or as a unique gift for that special someone. This item is in excellent condition and suitable for decorative or dry use.

Crafted out of Ash (USA), Bloodwood (Brazil), and Black Veneer (USA).

White Ash or American Ash (Fraxinus americana) grows in eastern North America from Nova Scotia west to Minnesota, south to northern Florida, and southwest to eastern Texas. The wood is white, quite dense, strong, and straight-grained. It is similar to Red Oak in appearance and grain texture.

Bloodwood (Brosimum rubescens) grows in regions of Central America and Latin America; in countries of Brazil, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname. The heartwood is described as deep red or pale reddish-brown, and may sometimes have a greenish golden beige ribbon figure. The grain is straight to slightly interlocked. The wood is fine textured and extraordinarily hard and dense. The vivid color is always eye catching.

Black Veneer is dyed jet black through and through, ideal ebony substitute.
