Star and Moon Earrings

Description

These purposely mismatched earrings - one is a star & one is a moon - are handmade from dichroic glass in my rural PA studio. All of the metal is sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver, 7.5% copper for people with allergy concerns. Each earring measures 1/2" (1.1 cm) wide by 2 3/4" (4.5 cm) long, and each earring features a tiny malachite bead.

Dichroic glass was originally invented by NASA, but it found its home with glass artists. Dichroic - which means two color in Greek - is a perfect name for this glass, as it has two (or more) colors that show up depending on the light. Most of the time these earrings will appear emerald green, but if you tip them nearly to the side, you should see the secondary color - a blue-green.

These are the real thing - I start with sheets of dichroic glass, etch my designs into them, layer them, etc. I don't use dichroic paper, and all of my jewelry is properly annealed over a period of hours to ensure durability and longevity. Every piece of jewelry I make is one of a kind, (yes, I keep an inventory of each set I make) and each piece is signed and dated.

If you would prefer posts, ear threads, clips, hoops, or french hooks, - put a note to the seller and I will change them. Clips require special order and cost extra. Please note changing this may change the overall look of the earrings.
