Embroidery Rebus Textile Art

Rebus -a puzzle in which words are represented by combinations of pictures and individual letters

My embroidey work is done on 100% muslin made in the USA. The work is mounted on 12 x 12 x 1 inch canvas which is ready to hand on the wall or place on a frame easel.

My Grandmother (who my cat, Winifred, is named after) taught me to embroider when I was about 10 years old. The floss I'm using is a mix of new floss and vintage floss that belonged to be my grandmother which is at least 30 years old.

The images in the embroidery work is a heavily in influenced by Carl Jung's work on the personal shadow, the embroidery functions as what Jung calls "spiritual talisman" for inner growth. I have created two characters, Pricilla and John, to tell a on going story of love and loss to explore what we all have hidden in our shadows.
