Crocheted copper wire basket, multicolor green with red rim

Description

This pretty little basket is crocheted with two strands at a time of very fine copper wire, worked together to add strength and a beautiful depth of texture. The body of the basket is fashioned from 24 gauge grass-green wire crocheted together with 32 gauge (hair-fine) black wire. The rim is double-crocheted with 26 gauge red wire, 29 gauge copper wire and 32 gauge black wire.

This basket is very sturdy and stands up on its own, but is flexible and can be collapsed, crushed, and re-formed without causing any damage. Use it as decor, or to store your jewelry or small incidentals. Can also be used as a 'wrapping' around small bowls or flower pots.

It is shaped much like a floppy sun-hat, about 3" tall and about 6" across at the top, and is crocheted with fairly tight stitching, making it surprisingly heavy. It took about 5 hours to crochet.

Each basket that I crochet is original, unique, one-of-a-kind!!

The enamel coating on the copper wire gives the baskets their various colors, and protects the wire from tarnishing, ensuring that it will be bright and shiny for years to come!
