Recycled sweater tote bag purse with Kaffe Fassett lining

I've been working with recycled wool for about 8 years and struggled with how to maximize the number of sweaters in a given purse. My friend, Christy, gave me the idea to patchwork the sweaters and the Christy Bag was born.

There are more than 10 different sweaters incorporated into this bag. The sweaters are felted, cut into 3-inch squares, sewn together one-by-one-by-one, and made into the bag you see.

The width of one side of the bag is 15-inches (5 squares wide) and is about 12 inches deep. Straps are 27 inches of black cotton webbing with decorative braid sewn on top. The bag is fully interfaced and lined with Kaffe Fassett's fabulous "Targets" fabric. There are 2 inside pockets and a magnetic snap closure.

Machine wash inside out on gentle cycle and lay flat to dry.
