A REPURPOSED MARIE ANTIONETTE BURLESQUE MIXED MEDIA ART JEWELRY NECKLACE AND EARRINGS - 'THE GODDESS APHRODITE'
Description
More photos on my website www.katherinecooper.co.ukRESERVED FOR BUNNIE PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - I am re-introducing my ‘Goddess Collection’ they are a new old design so to speak. I first started designing this collection way back in my early jewellery days of mixed media art compilations, when I could not resist collecting unloved vintage jewellery that no one wanted and restyling it into something new. I am introducing you to ‘Aphrodite’ not the first time I have created her, but she is always a delight. She makes a romantic bridal jewellery piece, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, and will wow! at a black tie event...
My photos are just not doing this piece justice I am not able to capture the real beauty and the sparkle, it was too late in the afternoon, I might try for some better photos in a day or two...
I have lots more photos of this piece of my website please do have a look www.katherinecooper.co.uk
matching earrings are in the last photo on here...
This design is a hybrid from the Victorian times right through to the 40's 50’s Burlesque and is a ‘one off’ design…
‘Aphrodite’ was the goddess of love and beauty and I have designed her as such. Taking centre stage on this sparkling asymmetrical beauty (and she does sparkle my photos can’t capture her real life beauty) is the most stunning large vintage 40’s brooch (back had been removed and filed). I purchased her on one of my buying trips to Paris quite a few years ago. She is signed Continental, the box is a gorgeous old faded slightly marked silk moiré box to which I was so surprised when I spied the contents as they were in perfect condition. To complete this is a pair of matching clip on earrings which rather then use them in another design I have keep the essence of them both together, so you have a matching set…
Centre sweep is asymmetrical and crammed with the most gorgeous topaz pear drop shape diamontees, with a sweep of slightly darker topaz blue aurora borealis rounds, and outer middle edge blushed with deeper sapphire blue and one large bluey green peacock blue stone…
Just pop necklace and earrings on with your ball gown or your wedding dress or any such dress and you are ready to rock and roll, if you are feeling really decadent she is going to look drop dead gorgeous with your jeans as well.
Too your left is a stunning vintage 1950’s sparkling diamontee flower (once lived as an earring and I believe to be American). It has a large centre stone of mid blue aurora borealis, a cascade of old creamy white iridescent faux pearls and sweeps off to the left with the deepest darkest sparkling blue navettes. To your right is a divine vintage 1950’s flower brooch with silver leaves, the sparkling mid blue aurora borealis stones pick up the mid blue in the centre piece perfectly…
Now your dangles and I do have to wax lyrically about these, they are all vintage lead crystal and the stuff that dreams are made of. Your centrepiece is a large pear drop of gorgeous vintage Art Deco ‘London Blue’ led crystal and it sparkles, measuring 1”. To the left is another large vintage 50’s topaz blue briolette of lead crystal (this is multi faceted sparkle). To the right is a vintage Art Deco lead crystal chandelier drop (very hard to come by) it’s a gorgeous ‘wedge’ pear shape if that makes sense and the blue is a topaz blue a couple of shades lighter then the ‘London Blue’. Twinning the 3 large crystals are the most gorgeous vintage Victorian pointer briolettes mid colour way between ‘London Blue’ and Topaz. These Victorian pointers are of exceptionally high lead crystal quality some of the best I have ever come across, and they are gorgeous (use to belong to an old necklace). I have hand wired them all in non tarnish silver…
I have hand wired the rest of the necklace with a couple of huge rounds of Art Deco aurora borealis crystal, and some smaller ones, a few matching lead crystal facet rounds of topaz (they once belong to the same necklace as the Victorian lead crystal pointers). Some vintage Art Deco peacock blue carnival scarab crystal beads, and some beautiful blue 1940’s Austrian crystal…
Necklace is or sturdy construction the designed centre focal measures 5 ¼” x the middle drop of 3”. The whole necklace measures 17” and has a 2” hand wired crystal extender chain and is finished with my sterling silver signature name tag. The lobster claw clasp and closure rings are sterling silver also. Will arrive beautiful gift wrapped in a Katherine Cooper gift box and gift tag…
