esther amelia in magenta

Description

I have been wanting spring so much but (sigh) it is still winter. So I just started sewing these flowered hats to keep one's tender ears warm while dreaming of blossoms. Somewhere between an aviators helmet(amelia airhart) and a fancy swimcap(esther williams)these bonnets are soft but hard core,the perfect transition hat when crocus are pushing up but it might snow again tomorrow.

This one sewn with reclaimed magenta lambswool, washed and felted but still supple. Three hand sewn flowers cluster on the side with petals of the same felted magenta,brown lambswool centers and two shades of green leaves. Photos show the flowers can be worn on either side. About 23 inches around, a medium ladies size. The widely scalloped edge gives you gentle ear coverage without being a tied down earflap.
